Taking Time Off

I have just dropped by to let you all know that our darling Tommy passed away on 6 August.  He had been very ill with cancerous tumours in his lungs, and we spent all our time with him.

I have decided to take the rest of this year off and come back next year when I am over this awful event.

I know that you all will be shocked, but keep a lookout for me, because I promise I will be back.

Baby It's Cold Outside!

Just dropping by to let you know that we shall now have until next Sunday, and then we will be back to normal and the word photo will be "black".
Of course I will post another "black" also!

Last night it was around 6 degrees Celsius here - the coldest temperaw ture for June since I don't know when. Tonight is shaping up to be just as cold, so we have the aircon on to try and keep us warm.  I hear that it has been below freezing elsewhere, so wer are pretty lucky I guess!

I have been very busy, knitting and crocheting my little heart away, still teaching myself to use the knitting machine, I really think that I need lessons!

I've started knitting some scarves - here's one that is finished:-

I thought that this little neck warmer was adorable -I've never seen anything like it, so I made one!

and here it is done up! Can't wait to wear it!

I am also working on a crochet blanket for the single bed in our spare room - almost finished but I took time out to make scarves!!

I'll show you more later this week, I've been too cold to get it all together for pictures!  So I'm afraid you will  have to wait for me to thaw out a l;ittle bit1!

Word Photo Challenge 2016 - Week 16

As I typr this tonight, the rain is simply pelting down - this is the best lot of rain tht we have had this year! It is wonderful to hear it on the rooftop, and see the water tanks full and overflowing! Our back garden is now underwater, hope there will not be too much flooding overnight, they are saying on the news that it is still coming over Brisbane and the south east, so there may be even more before this finishes.

We are safe and dry

So "black" was the word for today, and I'll guarantee that you can't guess what my picture is of!

Here is a not so good picture of our mini poodle, Tommy.  He is not so very well at the moment, though I suppose we should expect that, after all, he is 12 1/2 years old almost. He has been in and out of our vets over the past week, and we are just hoping that his xrays next week are better than the last.

Send him your best wishes, won't you - it looked like a tumour  in his lung last week, possibly. Like I said, we will know more next week after more xrays.

Word Photo Challenge 2016

I'm  baaaack! Sorry for being so long missing, but it was Mothers Day and everything, so this is the second long week in the challenge - I'll try not to do anymore!

So the weeks (fortnights) word is CREATIVE, and have I got a photo for you!!

My friend offered me this a while ago, and finally I am able to stretch my CREATIVE mind and learn how to  use it!

"What is it?" I hear you ask.

"It is this" I reply:

I hear you ask again "What is it?", to which I reply "It is an Empisal KH91 knitting machine".

I'm sure you can understand how this machine is streatching my creative brain to its absolute limits! I can knit by hand, but I have never ever used a knitting machine, let alone one this old and beautiful!

But , believe me, I am learning fast - I can now cast on and knit plain rows, so I'm going well.

Now I just need to learn about this:

I'm sorry you cannot see this well, but this is the Empisal KH90 ribber, it attaches (!) to the flat bed machine, and i will be able to make all sorts of exciting things with these!

In the plastic bucket on the bottom is a load of lovely soft fabric for the backs of quiltm, and in the top box there are all the original manuals for these machines, plus lots of yarn!

Aren't I a lucky girl??!

I am really so happy with this, I am looking forward to letting my creativity take over once I learn all the basics.

Word Photo Challenge 2016 - Week 11

Welcome to you all, I'm glad to see you back with me!

I do hope that all my fellow Australians had a great Anzac Day long weekend, and another great time this weekend for May Day!!

So, we have not had any rain for so very long - until last night, when it rained lightly all night, and didn't stop until late this morning!

So my "Green" is no more than a photograph of my beautiful, happy, satiated back garden!!

So we have gone from dry grass that crackled when you walked on it, to green overnight! You can still see the browner patches amongst the green - I think we need another downpour tonight yet!

You can still see the grass is not as green around the edges in this phto - but all the plants are standing up and look very thankful!!

I must say that I was disappointed when noene had a go for the "clean" prize, though I do understand that sometimes it is very difficult to get around to everything, and there is always the next time. So I'm not worried at all.

Hi everyone, glad you dropped by to take a look!

Well, this weeks' word was "black" and do you think I could come up with anything original?? Of course not, so I had to fall back on my favourite pet !

So here is my Black dog!:

So, dear old Tommy, my black dog, or to put it more precisely, my old black poodle, will be 11 years old next month - 25th of May to be precise.  He looks so distinguished in his bow tie, doesn't he?

He wore it last night, when we had the grand daughters over here for dinner - he wanted to impress them I think! They didn't even notice, I don't think. He was crushed!

Believe me or not, I still have not finished the work in the office area here, it will be May 25th before I get around to it!! But I will remember to show you the "after" pictures.

Word Photo Challenge 2016 Week 8

Welcome back everybody! Good to see you all again!

So, we have all had 2 weeeks to find our "unclutter" photo, how did you all go?

I had a bad fortnight, what with all the coming and going, and the rant! By the way, thank you for all your comments, I really appreciated everyone taking the time to talk me through that.  I have emailed everyone that I could email, and I have taken on board some wisdom. Thank you.

So anyhows, as I was saying, I have such clutter around me most of the time, I couldn't decide where to start! So i started with our home "office " area.  We have had to rearrange some furniture, so a lot of "stuff" got thrown into the "office" and left. So I have taken these pictures:

Just imagine how this room would look, if I actually got in there and UNCLUTTERED it!

This is through the doorway - it is only a small room and we keep a bed in here in case we need it - well, it used to be a futon, but that's out and those big long boxes contain a sindle metal bed frame, that will go along under the window.

Look at it!!!! It's the biggest mess!! I will begin to work on it tomorrow -- looks like a few days of shredding happening here! I might even show you a picture tomorrow night, of this same roon UNCLUTTERED!  Would you like that?

Bear in mind that my sewing room is in even a worse mess!
