I Am Home Again

It seems to me, that all I do lately, is apologize profusely to you, my friends, about the fact that I am in and out of hospital constantly!

I am home again now, and a whole lot better than I have been before! All is looking very good with the old heart, and we are just hoping now that things stay this way for a while.

But enough of that!

I must tell you that I did not actually get to take my picture of "calm", though these photographs I am about to show you do give that "calm" feeling.

I have also been around and seen your "calm" pictures, well done!

Through the past two weeks, the temperatures here have been HOT HOT HOT, and STEAMY STEAMY STEAMY, I was lucky to be in the air conditioning at the hospital!! So of course the garden has grown and flowers have bloomed madly.

Of course, as soon as I was home again I was out in the garden taking pictures of what is in flower, so here we are, a bit of an update for you all!

Here are the Hoyas, growing at the back of the Bali Hut

Couldn't resist a picture of the bat Plants, they have sprouted so big with all the heat!

The Blood Lily has only just finished flowering, and it's back again

The Dancing Lady Orchid has sprouted flowers - it grows in full sun

a close up of the dancing ladies - aren't they cute?

The Double Flowering Frangipani is about to open it's petals

The Bouganvilleas are in full bloom along the side fence

Night flowering cactus is covered in blooms, and they are as big as desert plates!

Just look at the size of the Frangipani Obtusa flower - and the smell is heavenly!

The red frangipani tree has grown and is covered in blooms

A close up of it's blooms, sweet, but not as sweet as the obtusa. You can see the Plumbago beside it here

The blue Plumbago beside the red frangipani is stunning - the colours really play well together!

The self sewn ferns on the wedding palm, the bromeliads are about to grow over them!

My beautiful white geranium, not flowering yet but the leaves are gorgeous.

I hope you enjoyed that calming trip around our garden, the plants are all my favourites!

Now, I was thinking that perhaps tomorrow night I will give two words for next week - just let me know your preference.  I would like to finish up this weekly challenge before Christmas if possible, then we can start our monthly challenge in January.

Let me know what you think

52 Weeks Word Photo Challenge

Welcome back to the weeks photo showing! It has been a very long week here - we have had temperatures from 36 to 41 degrees celcius over this past week - the hottest was today at 41 in our back garden!

41 degrees Celcius is equivalent to 105.8 Farenheit - I just looked that up for you! It's not even Summer yet!!  Goodness knows what that will bring...

So, enough of that, even though my picture relates to it :-

All activity in the garden has been cut out today, due to the incredible heat we are having.   It is impossible to venture outside, we have spent the day inside the house with the air conditioning on cool!  The poor garden is suffering - Alan has put the water sprinkler on to give everyone a drink because there has been no rain - it is supposed to arrive Tuesday, if we are lucky, until then it is dry and HOT.

So sign on below and let's see your "cut"

Some Hexie Fun

I've got a pretend post here to show you - I am madly hand sewing hexies, I think I've told you about that previously.

So here is a little peek at the fabric I am using for this particular hexagon wall quilt i am into at the moment!

Now, that should really whet your appetite, shouldn't it?? ( as she laughs hysterically!!)

I promise that I will show you when it is finished, but in the meantime, what could it be??? ( I promise it's cute - you will definitely love it!!)

See you tomorrow evening for our next week's word   for the challenge!

A Garden Update

Hallo again, my friends.

Thought you might like to see what is happening today in the garden.  Our Winter is over, we have had no rain for about 12 weeks ( to speak of) and the wind is terrible!  I'm sure that it blows the rain away, so consequently, not many flowers are lasting long.

We have used up all our tank water on the garden, and now we are using town water - of course, we need to be a bit circumspect with the watering now, as water ain't cheap!! ( remember the days when you were little, and you used to play under the sprinkler in the back garden on the lawn? Doesn't happen any more - not here anyhows!!!)

So, here's a few pics that I took this afternoon in the back garden:

Only the tough are surviving at this time, and this cactussy plant is tough! It fell, in it's pot, off the back wall, and this is where it has stayed!

My beautiful red frangipani, tough ads old boots!

Plumbago, it doesn't mind the hot wind!

These never stop flowering, regardless of wind, rain or lack of it!

The poor old self seeded ferns on t he wedding palm, need refreshing water every day, and of course they get it!

The back of the centre garden is watered regularly, it's doing well even though being over run bu wandering jew!

So here is our new sitting area, on the far side of the centre garden.  Will be lovely in the Winter, to sit here closer to the garden.  Of course, It has been far too hot for Alan to finish the paving properly so that will have to wait now, for the end of the hot weather.  We can still use it!

This area is beside the new seating spot - the plants have not been put in the ground yet - I think some of them will stay in pots - like the lavender, it hates the heavy soil in this garden, and dies when it rains! So it will be pot life for it!!

Well, that's how the garden is doing at the moment, we are surviving, the toughest are anyhows, and waiting on some good rain to appear!

Hope you enjoyed the little look!!

52 Weeks Word Photo Challenge
