52 Weeks Word Photo Challenge

welcome back everyone!  I had such a busy week just gone, with doctors appointments and such, that I never thought about blogging.

From here on, life should become a little less hectic, and I will be able to post a bit more through the week.  I hope...........remember, the best set plans! (especially in this house)LOL

Anyhows, here we are for our show n tell for "cotton", so without further ado, let's begin:-

Here is my picture for the word "cottton".  As a quilter, I use a lot of cotton fabric, and here is just a small show of different cottons and what can be done with them.  I also use cotton fabrics for my embroidery, they are very easy to work with and you can always find the pattern and the colour you want..
They are made from a natural plant fibre, so are biodegradable and safe for our planet. (I'm not so sure about some of the dyes used though!!

I hope you like my picture of cotton, and i look forward to seeing yours in our Linky tool below - don't be shy, join in at any time, I promise noeone will laugh at you!!!

See you all again tomorrow evening for our new weekly word.

Take care

52 Weeks Word Photo Challenge

Well, here we are, back for our "blue" week!

I quite enjoyed this word, and finally this evening, I got around to taking my picture! (I'm always late!). Suddenly, when I uploaded the pic to my computer, I was shocked.  Then I started laughing - I'll leave it to you to work out why.  Leave me a comment about why I was laughing hysterically and screaming "oh no, I can't put that up!!".

Can't wait to hear what you think!

So without further comment I give you:-

Tommy wearing his blue jacket!

I'm still laughing!!  I'll be back tomorrow evening to let you know the word for this week!

Don't forget to leave me your comment about why I am still laughing, now, will you??

So here i am to show you an old picture that I took that I think explains our word "head"

Here we go :-

A photo of the head of the head of the house! Poor baby Tommy Poodle, he is 10 now, and suffering with arthritis.

A photo of the 2nd in charge head of the household!

Sorry, I just couldn't help myself!!

Just add your pics to Mr Linky below, and lets see your "head"

I'll be back tomorrow evening for next weeks word, See you then!

Garden Update

Alan and I have been working very hard these past few weeks, out in the back garden.  Destroying weeds and getting everybody ready for the rain that was coming, but didn't arrive until today! Fabulous stuff, rain!

Replanted some lovely plants and here's just a few photographs of what we managed to get done:-

Last Saturday, Alan trimmed back hibiscus and other shrubs, and he then mulched them all into the wheelbarrow and Aaron wheeled them to the garden and deposited them where i needed.

This is the side of the centre garden that faces the bali hut, where I have planted a frangipani and some bromeliads near the buddha bowl.  The fern in the pot to the right will be planted in the centre of the patch later, once it is all weeded and mulched.

This side of the garden faces the back fence, where the ferns are growing over the wedding palm trunk (if you remember).  I planted dracaena cuttings and bromeliads ( got tons of those all over the garden).

More bromeliads waiting to be planted

You may notice that the agave that was flowering has been removed - it died as it flowered and we decided that enough was enough, so now there is a trio of pandanus trees planted instead of it - I can't wait for those to grow

These old red geraniums were planted beside the blue pot holding the frangipani in the previous picture - the red flowers will look stunning against the blue pot!

So lots has been done, but more to go, and now that it is raining finally, the new additions should put on some good growth!

See you tomorrow!

"The Girls are Back in Town" Fibre Book

I have been working each evening to get some embroideries finished for my next fibre book, which will be names "The Girls are Back in Town".

This one will be finished quickly (still haven't finished the first, because this idea came to me! Oh, well!

Here are the finished embroideries, still not ironed:-

I have really enjoyed doing these embroideries, taking patterns and making them mine,

These girls all have their own personalities,

they are each individuals,

all with sweet ways of their own!!

I can see the book in my minds eye already, so I think it must be time for me to get on with it now - maybe even finish it!

I hoped you enjoyed seeing my girls, see you back here tomorrow evening!

To the girls, Tracee and Janet I think it was, thanks for your comments on my being a no reply blogger!! who would have thought that I would ever allow that to happen!!  So I think I have fixed it, but please let me know if I'm wrong won't you?

I appreciate people telling me these things!

Okay friends, will see you back here through the week.

Have a great time and take care everyone.

52 Weeks Word Photo Challenge

Welcome back, my friends, I do hope that you have all had a great week!

So today is show n tell for our "lights" and I actually have 2 photographs to show you this evening. One just was not enough! So you can take your pick!

No 1_

I happen to love leadlights! This top one is over our dining room table, and I do love it's colours!

This one hangs in our front room, everyone has had to be aware of it, so that they didn't hit their head on the points!
They both are  about to break off the roof and probably take some plaster with them - they have been up for 10 years or more!  So it is time now to go and search for replacements.  I really hate searching for light fittings, either they are horrid and cheap or fabulous and far too expensive - there is never a middle road!

I think I will use these leadlights as table lights when they are finally taken down, I can't possibly part with them!

So now it is your turn to show us your "lights"! Sign on below and share:-

See you tomorrow night for next weeks word, and once I sort out all the photographs, I have some lovely garden pictures to show you!  We have been working hard here!!

Ooops, almost forgot! Aaron and I went to the pictures and saw "Defenders of the Universe" last night!  No comment!

My Beautiful Grand Children

I am so very proud of my beautiful grand children, and would love to show you these great photographs of them, that I just surreptitiously obtained!

So I will, Hope you enjoy them!

I promise you, I did not take this photo! Poor Jessica is suddenly realising that she is no longer the "BIG" sister,  her younger brother (by 4 whole years!) is now overtaking her in the height stakes!

She explains the whole thing away by stating that she was born into a family of giants and she is actually the only normal height one!

I'll be murdered for putting this up, I think!  Found it and thought it is exactly how they look most of the time! Not really, but not too far from it!!

I think Aaron has a blue tongue - perhaps it's better that I don't know why?

So here they are at our home yesterday (Sunday). The family came over and we had a pork roast with veges, and lots of ice cream and pears after.  The two of these darlings were originally looking through some old photographs I had found of them, having a great time insulting each other over how they looked back then!

All in all, it was a fun day!

Hope you enjoyed the pictures!

Week 30 of 52 Weeks Word Photo Challenge

Hi everyone!  I must apologise for becoming so slack with my blogging lately, but rest assured things are definitely happening behind the scenes, and I will be back to normal one day soon.  I hope! Things just take up too much time here, and leave not much time for blogging during the week!

Apology is accepted, I hope!!

So, here we are at week 30!  We are over the hump and on the downwards slope!

So the word for this marvelous week 30 is - "lights".

Whatcha think?

See you back here next Sunday evening for show n tell!

Have a good week and take care!

52 Weeks Word Photo Challenge

Hi everyone! This weeks word was pretty good, I thought.

So I hope you enjoyed it as well!

So here is my offer for "fan":-

Isn't it pretty?  I've owned this little fan for years and years - it is so old that the box it lives in has a glass top! No plastic for this little fan!  It appears to be made of balsa wood, and the carving is so intricate.

I love it to pieces, but I have no idea where or when I bought it, it has just lived with me for centuries, it seems!

So let's see your fans below with Mr linky!

Be back tomorrow evening for next weeks word!
