Busy in the Garden!

So I wanted a Grevillia that had outgrown it's space, to be removed.

So yesterday, Alan decided that it was time to do the dastardly deed, and free up some space.

So I took some pictures, here they are:

So here is the view towards the back garden from the patio at the side of the house. Everything is ready for Alan to chop the tree down.

Working out the best way to attack!

Here you see Alan up the ladder, sawing down the top branches from the tree. It was smothering everything in it's old dropped leaves, and my poor Frangipani couldn't stand it much longer! You can see how tall it was here, it is almost to the height of the palm beside it. (we didn't plant it, a bird did it!) Truely!!

Off the ladder finally - a job well done!

The view to the back showing all the branches that were chopped from the tree, along with all the Allamanda that was growing up through it!

Just look at all the branches and bits spread all over the grass.  Alan is about to mulch most of it now, and then it can be used in the garden.

So all this happened yesterday, I haven't had the opportunity to take a picture of the mulch yet, I'll do that tomorrow, and I'll show you how the yard is looking then!

Take care

An Autumn Spring Clean

Well, so here I am, unable to find what I want in my sewing room, so what do I decide to do yesterday? A big clean up-out-rearrange and everything of the dreaded sewing room.

I have found things that I had forgotten I owned!

I'll let the pictures tell the story - please bear in mind that the room was unenterable (is that really a word?) and nothing was where it should have been, because I never put anything back in the right spot when I had used it, or finished with it or anything!

In short, it was my nightmare from hell.

I did not take any before shots, because it was too shameful! You may recall that my sewing table was directly in front of the sewing room door - maybe. Well, you couldn't see the sewing machine, because all the "stuff" was piled high on the table and threatened to fall over and smother me if I dare to walk into the room.

Of course, I can't just "show" you the pictures, I have to talk you through them, and try to explain.

So here: -

So above is the view through the sewing room door - I have moved the sewing table to the back of the room, into the position that the bookcase used to be in, and the bookcase is now along the right side wall under the shelf.

"Stuff" litters the floor.

In the doorway looking left are the cupboards that store "stuff".

"Stuff" in front of the cupboards. Includes all the books from the bookcase - otherwise I couldn't have moved it!

I'm thinking that there may be a give away or two in this, as I sort through my quilting books and thin the bulk.  Stay tuned for it!!

This bookcase, for what it's worth, will soon harbour my yarn collection, so that I can see what I have without rummaging through the cupboard.

Looking toward the door from the sewing table, the wardrobe can now be utilsed for storage (where the table was before shut the door to the wardrobe off, so it couldn't be used. Silly, but the room is very small.  See my scrap basket in the hallway?

All the "stuff" on this shelf will soon be stored away in the wardrobe, making room for some "girly" touches, I hope.  Sorry the picture is a bit blurred, I was so exhausted by this stage, I could barely hold the camera straight!

Oops! Crooked sign - never mind.  Here's the queen bed covered with "stuff" from the sewing room!

I am being totally ruthless, and throwing out anything that will not be used within 12 months or so.  All those tiny scraps that I was going to use are gone. I won't use them soon so they are history.
Like I said "ruthless"

That's it for this, more to follow.

My Big Secret Crocheting Binge

hi everyone!

I know I have been very remiss and not around a lot lately, but i have had 2 special birthdays to prepare for and not much time to do it in.

The first birthday was a 21st and the 2nd was a 15th.

Both were grand children.

I can show you what I did for the 21 st, because she has it now.

Here I have an artistically arranged crochet blanket  over a chair. The crochet blanket has a crochet hat artistically arranged over it's right ear.

Here you can see the fringe on the artistically arranged blanket, along with the crochet purse artistically arranged on it's lap!

Of course, you can't have a purse without a handbag, so here's a crochet handbag to put the purse into.

That's all for the 21st, you may have realized it is a girl! Sarah is her name. Sarah contacted me today, to say that she did like her gifts and that they will be used. That is good to know, with all the work that goes into crochet goods, and quilts also, or anything handmade for that, it is always good to know that they are appreciated!

Here is what is dopne for the 15th so far, it's a bit late but it will be a crochet blanket - yet to be artistically arranged over something!

Yet to be finished actually. It's late I'm afraid.

Happy Easter

As it is now Good Friday here in Queensland, I would like to wish all my friends and other readers a very safe and happy Easter weekend.

I was hoping to have been back a few times before this, to show you some of my secret crocheting, but unfortunately, I just have run out of time.

Because of the holidays this weekend, our Old Photograph Sunday is postponed to next Sunday. I'm sure you all have lots of other things to get done this weekend!

I  will be back next week with pictures....

Take care
