So Much Work!!

Thought I would catch you up on what's happening here at this time.

The garden is being over run by weeds - no time to get out there and do too much, and with all the rain lately it won't be done soon either!

2, A FINISH! A Tunisian crochet scarf has been finished for a dear friend who is going overseas to England and Ireland, this Saturday.  I have told her not to bring it back, because she will never need it again!!

3.  This is the last birthday quilt that needs doing - lots of progress:

And some half square triangles assembled into larger blocks:

4.  The lovely Hawaiian fabric that my friend Liz gave us all is being pieced using that half hour block pattern:

Some of the girls thought they might put a solid colour in the middle, but I didn't want to do that, I think they will all go together beautifully, and the red frangipani fabric will be gorgeous all around them!  The blocks are 3" I think, so this is a fiddly one!

5.  I am way behind in my BOM's, Craftsy is only 1 month behind, but Material Obsession is a bit more:

Guess I had better get more organised here!

6. I'm 2 weeks behind with my TAST stitching.  oops I  ALMOST FORGOT :_

7.  Started a new shawl, Penelope got the last one:-

Well I think that at least now "I'M JUST DOING IT" ! That's enough for now I think....

Anzac Day 2012

For those of you who live overseas, today is Australia's national day of Rememberance.

Many towns and cities throughout the country hold both services and a march to commemerate our veterans.

We remember their courage through all wars and the sacrifices that so many men and women made, so that we could be free. We will never forget.

At the rising of the sun and at its going down,
We remember them.

A Lovely Day had by All

Today we had a "girl's day" at my friend, Val's new house.

There was 6 of us, and we talked and ate and talked and ate until we just couldn't talk or eat anymore!

So I gathered up three others and  drove home, dropping them off at their respective homes on the way.

I would have taken more pictures, but of course, I completely forgot, what with all the talking and eating!!

Isn't it lovely to be able to share such times with good fun friends?

Some Good News

I just thought that I would drop this in the blog for those great friends who have stuck with me through all the hospital stays and problems - I got some absolutely fabulous news from my cardiologist yesterday - he doesn't want to see me for twelve months!

He feels that I am doing so well, and said that he has never seen me looking so good as now!

Isn't that wonderful?  Of course, if I have any problems I am to go immediately to the hospital, but I don't think that I will at all.

Now if I can just get my lovely respiratory physician to think the same way at the end of the month, I'll be normal again!

What a lovely thought.

Quilts on the Go

Like I said last night, I have been doing some sewing as well - I have started this project for a large quilt made of half and quarter square triangles.

The hardest part was cutting out all these zillions (well it felt like zillions - it was a whole lot, took me hours) of 6" squares to use

Then of course, I have to make the half square triangles, trim all the dog eared points, the cut again and make some quarter square triangles.

If something doesn't want to fit, there are plenty of scraps and strings to attach to everything, and make them fit!  This is a very true blue scrappy.

Need this one by June this year - wish me luck!!

Next up, there's this one:-

I've decided to cut it up and make small hanging quilts from it - they will make nice gifts.

Them there's this one :-

I wasn't going to show this yet - but this is the block that I made for my Block Swap Australia partner, Kate (sorry Kate, I called you Kay last night, and it left here today - so she should have it tomorrow or the next day.  I do hope she likes it - she asked for autumn tones or brown and aqua, in any design apart from Baltimore - so I guessed that was applique - so I didn't.  Do you think it's ok?

French Knots are the embroidery stitch for this week, but I haven't started my sampler yet and there is also another quilt happening but I can't show pics of that one yet.

So I'm pretty busy!

Lots of "Stuff"

I thought you may like to see what I am up to at the moment  - in the sewing room that is!

Today I received my swap block from my Swap Blocks Australia partner, Kay.  A lovely little house block:

Isn't it cute!

I am currently working on a few things - Tunisian crochet to start.  Do you know how to do this crochet?  It is really interesting and I have wanted to learn since last year, so I read all the stuff online, books and bought the needles and I just could not get the hang of it!  So yesterday I went online and checked out You Tube, and watched some videos, so now I think I know all about it!!

I obviously learn by looking, and this is what I'm doing:

Remember I'm a beginner now:

Doesn't look like much does it? Maybe you will see it better if you click on the picture.
I'm real proud of myself!

I'm also crocheting a new shawl - I gave up on the last one, but this is much nicer:

I think this one is going to be much better.

I'm also doing some sewing and some embroidery, but I will show you that tomorrow night.  I think this is enough for tonight.

See you tomorrow.

I Owe you an Apology

I am so very sorry that I had those awful words to be deciphered on the comments section!

I won't even leave a comment if I have to do that, because the letters are too hard to work out.  I usually email the blog owner and tell them that I didn't leave a comment because I couldn't read the words.

So now I discover that I am guilty of doing exactly the same thing, thank goodness my friend Tanya told me!

So now the words are gone and it's easier to comment.

Please accept my apology!

A Lovely Surprise

My friend, Elizabeth, who is part of our Thursday morning stitching group, has just recently returned from a lovely holiday in Hawaii, where she and her husband spent some time in Honolulu and then 7 days cruising the islands, and back to Honolulu for a few more days before flying home.

She surprised all of us with a fat quarter of hawaiian fabric and a big pile of 3" charm squares each.

So this is my fabric, isn't it gorgeous?  I thought I might make a small wall quilt using the charm sqaures in a nine patch and the fat quarter to sash them and to bind.

Do you think that will be a good idea?  Or do you have any other ideas for me? Please? Thanks.

Embroidery For Fun

Yesterday I sat and stitched this little fairy sitting on a toadstool - it's a Sublime Stitching pattern and I fell in love with her :

She hasn't been washed and ironed yet, don't ask me what I'm going to do with her, maybe stick her on the wall of the sewing room so I can look at her.....
