How cute is this?  Can't you just hear the Big Bopper singing "Haalloo Baaabi"?

That's all!

Please take a look

at my Knitting and Crochet page, and see if you can help me with my query.
Thanks

Another House Block!

Today I received another house block from Rosie, who lives here in Queensland also!

I just love the curves - this is no plain old normal house!

Thank you Rosie, it is adorable.

A New Pattern

Today I also received a quilt pattern from Amitie Textiles, in Victoria.

I only ordered it a few days ago, they were right on the ball!

I love this pattern, it is called Green Tea and Sweet Beans and it's designed by by Jen Kingwell.

The book has instructions for all the blocks and their sizing

along with templates (there's a little bit of applique = those who know me will laugh at that!)and drawings of how it all goes together.

I am going to use all my scraps on this one, will just have to buy some background fabrics.  I'm really looking forward to doing this one, I think it is gorgeous!

More Houses

Remember on Tuesday how I said I was catching up on bee blocks?

Well, in that envelope were two blocks for Ilse who lives in Victoria and is my swap partner for August with Quilting Block Swaps Australia.  Of course I haven't posted them yet, but look at what I received today in the post.

All from Ilse and all gorgeous! Aren't they just so cute? I really am such a lucky girl!

I always make 2 blocks for my partners, so now of course I will have to make one more for Ilse!

Lucky I hadn't been to the post office, now I can take pics also....

Catching up Again!

I have been catching up on blocks again - have done the bee blocks that I owe, so I'm almost up to date:

This one was great, but my goodness, the tiny little pieces!! I won't be doing this in a hurry again!

The envelope sitting on top of the boxes is the other block I finished today - forgot to take a picture of that one, so I will ask the recipient to send me a pic for here - I really liked that one..

If you look really closely, you'll see Tommy outside the door, being the usual sticky beak! He might be missing something..

Evening crochet continues - I don't know if it's actually doing my fingers any good but at least I'm getting lots made!!
There's an update on the Knitting and Crochet page, so go take a look...

A "Sort Of" Tutorial.

I had to make a new table runner for our glass topped table, so that I could wash the old one!

Can you see how dirty it is? I certainly could!

So anyhow, I decided to try this jelly roll friendly runner that I have seen previously on the internet. So this is how I made mine:

I chose 6 fabrics from the jelly roll, actually I chose more because I did 3 lengths. I sewed them together in 6’s.

I then pressed both from behind, putting all the seams in the one direction,
and from the front, using plenty of starch

I evened up all the ends.

I then cut my lengths to make a square – 6 jelly roll lengths gives just under 12”, so I cut the lengths into 12” squares.

I then sewed all the squares together in one long length, alternating horizontal with vertical strips. It pays to measure the table at this point, so you know how long to go!
Then pressed madly again with starch.

I cut my backing fabric, and with right sides facing, I attached it to the runner along three sides, using
the usual 1/4” seam

Turned it outside in, or inside out, whichever, poking the ends out on the far end with the scissors.

Turned the top end over and sewed it shut.

Did I do good with that?

I've also finished a scarf for my friend who has a birthday next month.  I've put the pic on the Knitting and Crochet page!

The Down Under Doll Quilt Swap Mosaic

Now that I know who my partner is, I thought I might put a bit of a mosaic of work I have done   , in case she drops by! Of course I only do things that I love, so it should show what I like, shouldn't it?
