Freeform Friday

Welcome top the second Freeform Friday for 2016!

Hope everyone is well, we have had some storms here in good old sunny Queensland this afternoon though, unfortunately none here in our little neck of the woods! The storms split and went above and below us, we just can't win sometimes! We desperately do need some rain, our water tanks are empty, I suppose we will get some soon. (Of course, we all know what will happen now, don't we, my next post will probably be about the rain and it not stopping!!!heehee) Enough frivolity.

I'm here to show you my vase that I was doing last week:-

Here is the front - and look at what it is standing next to!! - obviously I have another vase to do soon! I've had that plant growing in water for years so it's time it got a face lift - it's on the list!

Here is the back view of the freeform vase. I quite like both sides, one day I might even put some flowers or whatnot in it!

Stay tuned this Sunday, for the first week of our 52 Weeks Word Photo Challenge for 2016

Australia Day 2016

Today is the day when we get together and celebrate this wonderful country of ours and how lucky we are to live here

Just couldn't resist it!!

Some Covers For Old Jars

Wow, after Christmas and all, I find that I have lost my mojo, if you understand me!!

I simply cannot settle down and get into things yet - so I decided to try some bits and biobs that I can finish eally quickly, hoping that the old mojo will reappear if she is satified with them.

I'm not sure it's working. Yet.

So this is what I have done:

Here's the first jar - for my makeup brushes. At least they will be kept tidy now, instead of being thrown into the drawer!

Number 2 jar is for my crochet hooks, from 4.5 to 6mm. Now they are tidy too.

I love the button I used on the flower, so that's cute!!

I still have some more jars and bottles, so I will just keep going until the old mojo comes back and says "Enough, into the good stuff now!!"

I Finished a Blanket

I did finally finish the star blanket that I showed you HERE.

I thought it would never, ever end! I wanted to do it for my granddaughter, but by the time I finished it, I think I was just about over it!!

It was worth it though!

Artistically arranged over the armchair number 1.

Artistically arranged number 2

A closeup of the border I decided on.

I was very pleased with the way it turned ut, and I am sure that Jessica was happy with it also.

It ended up not quite as large as I had hoped to do it, but I was running out of time!

I'm sure this is the reason why I can't settle into anything at the moment, this was such a big project and I feel like I am empty of creativity at the moment, so that is why I am covering jars and bottles!!

Freeform Friday

Hi everybody! I hope that you all had a lovely Christmas and New Year period as we have here.

It's almost February already, so I decided that it is time to get back into the old blog!! I've had too much down time, I'll try to not let that happen again.

I also decided to bring back my "Freeform Friday", at least that's one thing I can start on, as I have been madly crocheting jar covers, for some old jars and empty bottles that I have, as I'm sure most of you also have! So I decided to pretty them up and use them.

One bottle will be a freeform vase, so here is the beginning:

Here is my freeform piece just started. I am using a 3ply cotton in various colours, and just making it up as I go along. It is very freeing!!

Sorry that this photograph is so hard to see, I got really carried away with the name!!
Here is the bottle that will wear the freeform piece, I'm not sure yet if I will start at the bottom, or I may turn the piece and use it sideways along the bottle.
Decisions, decisions!!

Which way do you think would be better??

I Made It Back!

Alan and I have been so busy these past few weeks, so today I had him take some pics of me when I was crocheting outside under the patio.

I don't think I have told you that we have our 2 granddaughters and their friend staying with us. They have all  moved up here to Brisbane from Young in ciountry New South Wales, and they are staying with us until they find a home to rent, early next year.

They all arrived in the beginning of June, and the house, and our lives, have not been the same!! It is lovely to have them all here, and they have all found jobs already, so they are going very well!
We even have an apprentice hairdresser with us!
Two of the girls are flying home over Christmas, so we will have our Sarah, the apprentice, with us for the Christmas period, as she has to work.

So life has been quite hectic around here!

Apart from that, I am finally onto the border of the blanket for Christmas. It has taken me forever, as other things have interfered. I will be so very glad to have it finished!

So here I am:-

So the border is well under way here, almost there!

I have had a number of visits to the Skin Cancer Clinic over the past few weeks, and have a number of BCC's removed from my forehead, so the scars still are healing.  Tomorrow will be my final visit, I hope.

There is a big storm heading over here, we have battened down the hatches, and are just waiting now for it to hit. The humidity here has been really high, our temperatures have been high 30's, so it's time we had a monster storm to clear the air again.

The garden doesn't know if its Summer or Autumn, or maybe Spring! Some planys are flowering, when they shouldn't be until late Autumn, so our weather is all higglety piggildy!!

Well that's it for now, I hope that your weather is being kind to you, and your Christmas is arranging itself properly!!

Take care
