I Made It Back!

Alan and I have been so busy these past few weeks, so today I had him take some pics of me when I was crocheting outside under the patio.

I don't think I have told you that we have our 2 granddaughters and their friend staying with us. They have all  moved up here to Brisbane from Young in ciountry New South Wales, and they are staying with us until they find a home to rent, early next year.

They all arrived in the beginning of June, and the house, and our lives, have not been the same!! It is lovely to have them all here, and they have all found jobs already, so they are going very well!
We even have an apprentice hairdresser with us!
Two of the girls are flying home over Christmas, so we will have our Sarah, the apprentice, with us for the Christmas period, as she has to work.

So life has been quite hectic around here!

Apart from that, I am finally onto the border of the blanket for Christmas. It has taken me forever, as other things have interfered. I will be so very glad to have it finished!

So here I am:-

So the border is well under way here, almost there!

I have had a number of visits to the Skin Cancer Clinic over the past few weeks, and have a number of BCC's removed from my forehead, so the scars still are healing.  Tomorrow will be my final visit, I hope.

There is a big storm heading over here, we have battened down the hatches, and are just waiting now for it to hit. The humidity here has been really high, our temperatures have been high 30's, so it's time we had a monster storm to clear the air again.

The garden doesn't know if its Summer or Autumn, or maybe Spring! Some planys are flowering, when they shouldn't be until late Autumn, so our weather is all higglety piggildy!!

Well that's it for now, I hope that your weather is being kind to you, and your Christmas is arranging itself properly!!

Take care

Busy Sunday in the Garden

Hallo all, I'm glad you have dropped by!

As usual, this post is picture heavy - to show what Alan & I were up to today out in the garden! One of the hottest, sunniest, most humid days, we decide to work out in the garden. I suppose it's our way though!

So let's start with the pictures and a running commentary on what's happening:-

I repotted these plants into larger pots ( breaking one in the process, unfotunately

Here's the piece I broke off the top - I am letting it dry out and will pot it up soon - then we will have 2 of them!

I thought that I had lost the mint that was growing in this pot - but if you look closely , you can see it coming on again - so plenty of water for it now!!

Here is the bali Hut with no furniture - Alan is preparing the timber for re - oiling tomorrow.

and here is a closer look at the re potted plants - you can see the top missing from the back one!

Back to the entrance to the back garden - we have been pulling all the large ferns from around the cycad here - can you see the flower bud forming in the middle of the plant?  All the ferns were smothering the poor thing - still have plenty more to pull out though.

So, walking around the garden in a clockwise direction - look to your right and here is a new baby Eureka Lemon tree - can't wait for him to grow up - I LOVE lemons!!

Behind the lemon is this Bird of Paradise - this is the first time this one has flowered, moving it must have helped!

On the other side of the walk way is my lovely Oak Leaf Frangipani - it has flowered well this year.

Along the back fence, the ferns are doing well - all weeded and watered, The  self sewn ferns on the palm trunk now need to be removed - can you see how the trunk is beginning to shed it's bark? So there's another job for tomorrow!

The corner at the back of the Bali Hut - the bromeliads here have grown massively since I planted them - I think they must love the spot under the Golden Canes!

My Lavender and Rosemary I am growing in pots - they have been potted on into larger pots also.

So we are now collapsing inside, after visiting the dog park and having our dinner here at home - it has been a very long hot day!

Take Care

Saturday's Snapshots

I'll continue with my Saturday Snapshots and show you what is happening at my place.

It's raining, it's pouring, the old man is snoring

Poor old Penelope loves her cat house ( known by us humans as the Bali hut)

He bumped his head on the back of the bed

and he couldn't get up in the morning!!

Rain, rain everywhere!

The garden is inundated

You can see the water lying around everywhere - it can't get away

You can also see that the garden still needs weeding - desperately now

We haven't been able to work over the grass for so long now - the weeds are really taking over, though it should be easy to remove them once we can get to them!
