Saturdays Scraps

Hi everyone, great to have you back here!

Boy, did we cop a storm this afternoon! Thunder and lightening, with some large hail, a bit of heavy rain, and then Huey got bored and went on his merry way!!

Here's some hail:

2 of the hail stones in Alan's hand - they're about golf ball size!

A few of the stones on the front lawn - we really needed some rain, so we are lucky we got some!!

I have been sorting out my pieces of batting, trying to put together enough for at least one of my scrap quilts! It's just not happening yet, but I did have enough to do a little teddy bear bed quilt:

Miss Teddy's sleepy! Her quilt is made from scraps ( well it is Saturdays Scraps you know!) of batiks, along with scraps of batting.

Here she is, sound asleep

I started a new table runner from tons of strips I found in my scrap basket, along with a long piece of batting.

I'm going to use a flannelette sheet alone as a backing for one of my big quilts ( less batting to find!!). So I may even have a Sunday Scraps yet - drop in and see tomorrow!

Join in and show us your scrappy goodies for today:

Quilt Tops Finished

Yesterday was our Thursday Sewing group, and the girls came over and we all sewed and chatted and laughed for a few hours!

I finished these two:

A close up of the blocks -

It turned out so pretty

The batik pack produced this

And a close up of some of the pretty batiks.

Both will be single bed size, once they are backed and bound.

Do you like them?

Just a Quick Update

I thought you would like to know how well my finger is going - I am able to remove the dressing now to give some air to the wound - I'm so excited!!

Have been doing some crochet - I don't use my left index finger for that, and have to finish off a quilt binding by hand, before I show it to you.

I do have a quilt to show you though, it is my second latest finish from my Thursday morning sewing group.  Meet The Jungle:

If you look closely, you should see Miss Ellie's earrings - I haven't finished all the embellishing on this quilt yet, but I am doing it as the mood takes me and I've thought of something cute!

Accidentally took this pic of the back of The Jungle - you may as well see it as well!!!

Quilt Modelled as Promised

My dear friend, Di, was here today, helping me in the garden, and she agreed to do the modelling of the quilt for me:

I just loved all those pictures, so had to share them all. I think she did a great job!

The backing is this lovely pale green, and it is bound in the batik.
The quilt measures 64” x 75”, and will cover a double bed:

Tah-Dah-Dah Drum Roll Please

And trumpets and a marching band as well, 'cos it's finally done!

What's done?, I hear you ask.  THAT Quilt I answer, with a big grin:):):)

I added a couple of embellishments, for reasons best kept to myself, and they look gorgeous:

Of course, one cannot gift a quilt without a quilt bag:

Not quite completed, but I wanted to see how the quilt fitted.  Not bad!

I am really pleased that is finished.  Will be on its way to New South Wales in plenty of time for the birthday.
