The Wedding Quilt

Remember the bits and pieces and embroidery I did for my friends son and his wife for their wedding quilt?

Well, here is a picture of it for you - not very clear, but it shows some of it!

A second friend is quilting it for Elizabeth.  It apparently was far too big if Elizabeth used all the blocks we made, and so she made some pillow/cushions to go with it.

I haven't got a picture of those yet, but when I do I will post it.

Isn't it looking lovely?

Good Weekend

Yesterday, Saturday here, we drove a bit and picked up our grandson, to come and stay overnight and go to see a movie with me ( He is my rent a kid!!)

We had a great time and actually went to see "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes", because I wanted to see it as I have a soft spot for Caeser! We both thought the movie was pretty good, and I made myself sick on popcorn and sweet lollies! - well why not, we only do it once in the blue moon!!

So this morning we had breakfast and then out to the hut in the back garden where I showed Aaron baby photos of himself and embarrassed him - I love doing that with the grandkids!!

Here is Aaron with Priscilla, who has decided he's pretty good now.

Isn't it strange how grandchildren never smile unless they are threatened with death, just for 1 picture? I give up!

So we returned Aaron to his home and spent the afternoon in the garden.

Good weekend.

52 Weeks Word Photo Challenge

Hi everyone! Like I said previously, this was a great easy word for me, and lots of fun!

I have a pretty not well known secret to tell you - we actually own a torch - or two or three or five or six and so on ad nauseum!  Alan buys himself a torch like other men buy nails!! If only I had a dollar for every torch he has bought, I would be a rich in money person!!

He'll hate me saying that, because , as he always ecplains to me, "it is not him that is wrong, the torches always fall to pieces and won't work, usually it's the switch. "  So he needs a new one.

So here we are currently:-

So, here we are - not one of these is a working torch.

I rest my case.

So enter with Mr Linky below and lets see your torch!

See you back here tomorrow evening for our next word!

Not too bad I reckon.  Will see you back here next Saturday evening for our show n tell then.

Don't forget, anyone and everyone is welcome to join in at any time, simply take your picture of "torch" and join us next Saturday.

Have a good week and take care.

52 Weeks Word Photo Challenge

Hi, I told you I would be back soon!

So here we are for another week, to look at our "mobile" photographs.  I'm sure this week will be interesting!

So, I shall put mine forward for your critique!

I had an awful time with this word at first - I couldn't work out how to photograph a person being "mobile" but then I had a "Uereka!" moment followed by an epiphany and here is a picture of my own mobile phone!. This is the phone that is always either lost or out of battery power!  I hate mobile phones with a vengeance so this poor little thing hardly ever sees the light of day - it's on this dirty old seat where i found it. Poor neglected thing!

Anyhows, enough of my poor old phone, lets see what you have! Join in with Mr Linky below and let us all look!

The Postie Called1

and look what he bought for me!

A lovely doll quilt from Sharon in New York, and a little dollie to go with it!  The little dollie is now with the other dolls, and the quilt is in my sewing room. Sharon was my July partner and so very organised, I am still working on her little quilt.

I am such a lucky girl!  I keep saying this, I know, but i really am!!!

I will be back soon with our Mr Linky for our weekly word.  See you then!

Week 27 of 52 Weeks Word Photo Challenge

Wow! so here we are for another week!

I know I keep saying it, but time certainly is flying by, isn't it!

So here is our word for this week:-"mobile".

That one shouldn't be too bad, should it??

See you all later this week. Keep on rockin' as they say!!

 PS.
Almost forgot - Diane, I don't own another jumper!!!  Can I use a shawl perhaps?

52 Weeks Word Photo Challenge

Hi everyone, glad to see you are here!  Us poor Queenslanders are having the coldest temperatures that have been recorded for 100 years!  The winds have been very gusty and the wind chill factor just adds to the pain! It is absolutely freezing here, can I come and live with you?

Well this week was a little bit harder, I thought. Thanks Diane!

So I will now show you what iI came up with :-

The fountain has been on all day but I have just turned it off, and the water is nice and calm now.

I was hoping that we would have time today to drive over to the beach and I could take a picture of the sew, but we had visitors for lunch and so I figured that this was the next best thing!

So add your picture to Mr Linky below, and share with us. Will see you tomorrow evening for next weeks word!

Things are Happening

even if I don't post about them, believe me!

Hope everyone is well, we have just bought a new television set today, to use in the dining room. Now we can't connect it up, and because of this one TV, we now have 2 TV outlets that won't work!

Enough! I screamed, so I rang  a chap who will come out tomorrow and fix the lot up for us.  We have had a real yuck afternoon!! Hopefully all will be well tomorrow.

So enough of the problems, I have been toying with telling you all this little titbit of information, but i think it's time that I did.

I am increasingly being drawn to art journaling and sketching!  I have not been interested in sitting down and sewing a quilt out of my mountains of scraps for weeks now, and I have only sewn those items that I have had to, like the Doll Quilt Swap that I am a part of.  So I will continue with that.

I also bought about 8 metres of batting not so long ago, so that I could finish up my scrap quilts that I have done this year. So I need to finish that one day too. Hopefully before the end of the year.

I wanted to show you where I am up to with my mixed media embroidery journal, so here we are:-

The first two pages will remain the same, I am happy with them now,

Third page - Namaste printed on cardboard. Still needs borders and edges.

Fourth page - Guided by Spirit - ditto

Page 5 - needs embroidery and edging around page.

Page 6 - the poor old sheep fell off the page, so they have been re glued with fabric glue and their border is clipped to the previous page!

Page 7 - My little embroidered sayings require embellishment.

Page 8 Om Shanti page requires embellishement - do you notice how the paper explanation is written like it's going uphill? That's the way I write! Always have and probably always will. Someone told me once it was because I am a dreamer, don't know how true that is!

Page 9 the Buddha pages here - both this and page 10 are printed on fabric and glued in - need embellishment.

 Here's page 10!

Page 11 and 12 remain basically the same, still waiting for embellishment!

Just in case you were curious! Here are a couple of my sketches from yea old  paper sketchbook!
This house I dreamt about and had to draw it - looks like a 3 year old!

And some leaves for you - a 4 year old may have done this!  They day drawing takes practice, I think I may practice for quite some time, don't you!!?

Thanks for stopping by, see you soon and take care!

52 Weeks Word Photo Challenge

hi everyone! Welcome back to show n tell!

I had a package delivered this week, and i forgot to take a photograph of it! So I had to improvise and look at things from a different angle, and here is what I came up with:-

I have 2 packages of furry love and affection at my house! This is Tommy Poodle,

and this is Priscilla Poodle!

I told you I had to improvise, though it is true!!

So just add your name and details to Mr Linky below and show your photos of "package".

See you all tomorrow night for our next week's word!
