Embroidery

I only have 2 embroideries to show tonight! I'll have to get on with it!

I love this one, it's taken me three nights to complete. I only work for an hour or two. It's off the hoop now and being washed to remove the pencil marks - I always change my mind right in the middle of things!!

Now this one is a bit disappointing, i chose the exact wrong fabric here, so it can't be read properly.  Never mind it's cute anyhow!

So that's it , apart from the wedding blocks.  See you on Saturday for pictures (that's if I can find a "fun"  quickly!!

Wedding Quilt Blocks

Here's an update for you on how i am going with the wedding quilt blocks!

I have decided that less is more with these, as you will see:-

So here is our butterfly - totally out of balance and looking very strange, but I have embroidered the "be unique" words which I feel explains everything!

In fact, I may have to remove these ones and make them larger, they seem a bit lost in the picture!

So next up is our Miss Sunbonnet Sue, wearing a beautiful purple velvet gown under a sikver something apron, and carrying a bunch of something.

Don't make it easy for them is what I say!

These two hearts are my second in line favourites - very plain and simple.

Here's my first favourite , this beautiful ribbon with bugle beads and purple beads and purls. Another plain
 and simple one.

My crazy square, I still love it, even if it is off centre just a tad.  If you are looking at this Elizabeth, please don't hate me - you've got to admit it looks good - just needs a bit of creative positioning from you!

Here is my fluffy ribbon bowy thingy - I am still sewing this one by hand, it's surpriseingly difficult to sew on the machine - or it is for me anyhow!  I'm enjoying doing it by hand and it will look pretty when it is finished. I think. Don't know what that stain is - will have to work on that...

So I have 2 more to go and at this stage at least one of them will be embroidered. Maybe 2.

So I think i've done fairly well, would you agree?

Welcome to Week 20, good to see you back!

We won't mess around tonight, because I am still madly embroidering on the wedding quilt blocks and I'm on a roll!

The word for this week is "fun".

It will be nice to see what everyone thinks is fun, won't it?

See you later!

52 Weeks Word Photo Challenge

Welcome back to our 52 weeks word photo challenge!

This weeks word was "thread" and was chosen by our friend, Diane.

So here is my take on this word:-

Thread can come in all different types - cotton, silk, wool, hemp, the list is probably endless!

Here is a small sample of my thread collection:

along with my very latest embroidery pattern. (grin)

and another picture of the bag that small collection came out of (it's still full!).  Gee, it has the latest project behind it :):) Who would have thought !!!

Enough of my sillyness - time for you to show your photographs of "Thread".

There's lots - or a few, anyhow - of meanings here.  See you here tomorrow night for our next week's word.

Embroidery

Hi everyone, glad you stopped by to look at this post!

I have been embroidering my little heart out while sitting in the evenings with the television droning in the background.  I am really enjoying getting back into stitching - I love so many of the new embroidery designs available, though I am also going to work on some vintage finds from the web, that will be fun!

So, first things first:-

Does anyone like Breaking Bad? I love it, so of course this is number 1 - still to be hung in my sewing room.

Number 2 is this gorgeous young lady - copied from pinterest (isn't it a wonderful world?).  I love her, and she is already hanging on the pinboard in the sewing room!

These two young ladies are number 3 for the week - hot off the hoop!

I am having so much fun doing these embroideries, it is great to find something that I can see to do in the evening now.  The old eyes are not going so well i'm afraid.

So now, I'll be embroidering the wedding quilt blocks  - so I will show you the difference in them when I finish!

Tomorrow, we are invited to a birthday bbq, so will take some shots to show. Hopefully my grandchildren will be there!

Will be back tomorrow evening for show n tell!  See you then...

A Wedding Quilt

my friend Elizabeth, is a part of our stitch n bitch group, and her son is getting married in August.

Elizabeth asked all of us if we would like to help her make a quilt for them as a wedding gift.  Of course we all said yes, and now the time is getting closer and I am madly stitching to get my 8 blocks finished.

There are 5 of us, and each of us is doing 8 blocks.  The brides favourite colours are silver and purple.   Elizabeth has supplied the fabric blocks, already backed with batting, and an assortment of scraps of  the colours required, and we have added bits and bobs, and virtually designed our own blocks.

So this is what I have done so far :- some more work needs to be done, but so far ALMOST everything has turned out ok!

This crazy block is sideways in the picture, and I notice now that it is not centred!  It is so firmly attached now - it's the only block I have completely finished - the thought of unpicking anything leaves me cold!

Isn't it strange, how you work on a block and finish it up thinking it is right, then you stand back and find it's not!! Happens to me all the time!! I'm always just in too much of a hurry to get on with the next thing - also I am a bit slap dash, if you follow my drift!!

I'm going to leave this one, Elizabeth will be doing the final assembly, so I'm leaving it for her to think about, I just CAN"T!!!

Here's two hearts - at least they're centred!!  I will hand sew some beads and sequins, along with some pretty bows on these, and they will be complete.

I am pleased with my Sunbonnet Sue, she also needs some hand embroidered flowers in her hands and some sewing on her chiffon sleeves. Then she will be finished.

I'm very pleased with this ribbon, also. I have machine edged the silver (or grey) ribbon onto the block, and tonight I will hand sew the purple thingo on and then it is done.

I have saved the best till last!

Isn't this a disaster!!  I somehow have managed to completely stuff this one up!!  I think his right wing needs replacing, maybe it's whole body - what do  you think?

What do you think I can get away with on this one?  All help appreciated.

I was going to sit tonight and embroider the antenna on, and some veins in the wings and also add some sequins and beads but I'm thinking it needs some refurbishment first! If you agree, please offer some how to's, won't you? I am just so P****d off about this one!

I have only one two more blocks after these, so I hope I can get them all done by next Thursday, when I see Elizabeth.

I've got some more embroidery to show you, I'll put it on another post after this one.

Embroidery

I have been doing a little hand embroidery in the evenings, this past few nights.  I find that it is easier to see the thread against the fabric, rather than crocheting or knitting, where the same colour is being used and strains my eyes.

So this is what I have done so far - it's been a while, so don't expect miracles now, will you?!

I love this little one , seeing it here, I know it's crooked! Will have to go now and correct that!

I'm back, and it's fixed!! Here's the next embroidery

This little cutie hasn't been pressed or anything yet - I may use him in something like a book cover, I think. Any ideas of what he would look good on?

Now I am about to start on a little "lilipopo" girl - she was free on her website _

Aren't they just adorable  little mites?? I may do more than one of these!

See ya

52 Weeks Word Photo Challenge

Welcome back to our photograph show for Diane's word, comfort.

I'm sure I am not the only one who found this one a hard one!!  I thought I had it in the bag, when I decided that a picture of Priscilla in her favourite comfort spot was the answer, but get this one :-

A bit of a blur - because she jumped up as soon as she saw me walking into the room, pointing the camera!! Priscilla spends her evening curled up on my seat in a gorgeous little ball of dogdom - she was going to be my "comfort" photo!

So that was scrapped, because now she won't let me near her if I have the camera!!

2nd attempt, totally different:-

My lovely hot and spicy noodle dinner - real comfort food for me for Mothers Day! Beautiful red hot Seafood Mee Goreng! Yummmm! From our local take away noodle shop.

So join in with your comfort photos and see how you interpret Diane's word! Looking forward to seeing your pics. Just sign in with Mr Linky!

See you tomorrow night for next week's word!

Baby Quilts

As I may have mentioned previously (!!) (oh really) :):) I have been madly sewing some quilts for the new great grand daughter, Ella.

So here they are: -

So here is her little pram quilt - all snipped and ready!  It's really not crooked - must have hung it strangely!!

and above is the second little quilt I have made, looks all creasey (is there such a word?), doesn't it?

So both have been finished, and been through the washing machine and will go through the clothes dryer tonight - so that they are lovely and soft and cuddly for Ella, when she gets them.

Hope you are all having lots of fun with Diane's word for the week - I think I've got a good picture but you'll have to wait till Sunday to see it!!

Have a nice weekend.

How to Delete Word Verification on Blogger

For those who have this word verification on their blog - here is the way to remove it, if you want to that is!

Lots of people use word verification, even I did once upon a time!  But I found it just frustrated my readers, so I removed it.  I have to add here, that once I removed it, there was no difference to the amount of spam I received. Spam does seem to go in cycles, and I have my blog set so that I actually review comments before they are posted, every few days. That's all I need to keep the idiots at bay!!

Anyhow, here's how I did it:-

  1. Click on "Settings" on your blogger dashboard (it's on the bottom of the list that comes up under settings)
  2. Click on "Post and Comments"
  3. Click on "Show Word Verification" change the "Yes" to a "no".
Then if you want to look at comments before they are posted (I find this is easiest, if you are worried about spam)

  • Under the "Settings" menu, click on "Comment Moderation"
  • Your choices are "always"  "sometimes", click on "sometimes
  • You then tell the Blog how long between days that you moderate eg. 2 days means that comments will be seen by you every 3rd day, and you can check them and delete spam or anything before it  gets posted.
That's it, it's pretty easy really.  Let me know if you have any problems, or you can't understand what I've said!

                                                                   'cos I think it's cute!!

Week 17 of 52 Weeks Word Photo Challenge

Hi everyone, welcome to week 17!

While I think of it, Moose-ings, I'm having an awful time getting your "Please prove you are not a robot" words right!!  So I gave up.  Is there a reason for using them? Just asking, I'm going blind maybe, or I'm stupid!! :):)

So, the word for week 17 is - "comfort".

With many thanks to Diane at  The Cheshire Quilter, for this beauty!!  And she sent some more also, so watch out! they are all as good!!

Thanks very much Diane.

So I will see you through the week with pictures of Ella's quilts!

Have a  nice week.............
